About Kyebambe Girls'
A Legacy of Faith, Excellence & Empowerment Since 1910
The Story of The Star Empire
The story of Kyebambe Girls' Secondary School is one of extraordinary vision, royal courage, and unstoppable female potential. In 1910, Christian Missionary Society (CMS) missionaries arrived in the Kingdom of Tooro with a radical idea — that the daughters of this land deserved the same quality of education as its sons.
Their vision found its greatest champion in Omukama (King) Daudi Kasagama Kyebambe IV, the enlightened ruler of Tooro Kingdom. He not only endorsed the school — he proved his belief in it by enrolling his own daughter, Princess Ruth Komuntale, as one of its first boarders, inspiring his subjects to follow suit.
The school opened its doors as Tooro Girls School with just 49 girls — a number that has grown to over 1,000 students today. In 1941, in a landmark gesture of gratitude, the institution was renamed Kyebambe Girls' School to honour the king whose vision made it possible.
Today, Kyebambe Girls' Secondary School is recognised across Uganda and East Africa as one of the finest girls' schools on the continent — proud, prestigious, and perfectly positioned to shape the next generation of female leaders.
